• Said good-bye to a dear friend this week who faithfully served our mentor, Judge Rosenn, for years. She taught me much about serving with love, loyalty, and a zest for life. RIP Virginia.

• Her last words to me upon leaving my speaking tour last month: “miss you already.” Ditto, Virginia. Ditto.

• Speaking of missing someone already…next week at this time, we will have sent our son off to travel, volunteer, and play(!) in Switzerland. Practice run for sending him off to college next year. #LettingGo

Volunteer Administrators’ Network is a program of the Volunteer Center of Johnson County and also has a chapter in Washington County. Leaders in Volunteerism is based in Linn County. Both are networking groups that provide professional development opportunities to individuals that manage volunteers.

• When in NYC last week, ran into NY Times bestselling author Geneen Roth (note coolio shirt I’m wearing designed by my son).
   
• Ends up she was not only keynoting a conference at our hotel, but her husband was doing a public session.
   
• Didn’t know anything about her husband Matt. Found out…he helps people play at work!  #fun
   
• Returned home to a colleague…excitedly telling me how she discovered the power of allowing herself more room to be playful in her recent speech. She had way more fun, stronger sales, and was invited back to speak at next event. #success
   
• Later that day, heard from a friend at Delivering Happiness…who was all excited about attending a Playworks! Event  celebrating CEOs who endorse a sense of play at work.
   
• Martha Beck then hit my inbox writing about busting her OK Plateau with Radical Fun.

• I’m took the bait. Looking at this month’s schedule you’ll see some big creative projects, client appointments…and some new blocks of daily playtime.
   
• In fact, I’m musing in record speed today…between lunch with my best girlfriends and time with some favorite older women friends. Fueled by their love, wit, wisdom, and perspective. #nice
